Exceptionally rare Rolex Air Lion watch dating from the 1940s. The Air Lion was part of the Air king family of Rolex watches. This robust watch was significantly more sporty than the standard cushion shaped watches available at that time . The case design of this 4647 has great angularity created by the facets of the bezel and down turn of the lugs. The movement of this watch incorporates the Rolex 'superbalance' that was first patented in 1935

 The watch has a Rolex 15 jewel manual wind movement with 'superbalance', silvered dial with luminous Arabic numerals and hands with gold coloured centre seconds sweep. The case is a two Piece stainless steel cushion shaped oyster design with a faceted polished bezel and screw down back with milled edges and screw down Rolex Oyster winding crown. The seriel number is engraved on the case between the lugs at the 6 o'clock position.
